RAIN, SLEET NOR DARK OF NIGHT...RACE #1

The first Dusty Boot Short Track series race was contested Friday eve despite a torrential rain/sleet storm just an hour prior to the start of the race. A PILE of kids showed up to race however big people numbers were dismal. The B race saw a total of 20 men and women do battle and it was living legend Dawes Wilson unleashing the fury for the win as he redeemed his "kidnapped" brown shirt episode by throwin it down on the youth of the valley. Jody Diemer took the wome's race. The A race was taken by Mike Pastore with a signature last lap attack that was unable to be answered by the rest of the field.
***A quick and important note to all racers for this upcoming Friday's race #2. We need more short trackers to show and throw, plain and simple, or this series goes away. Most of you do not know how much it costs to put these races on in terms of money and time. This first race was a loss as it actually costs right around $500 to put EACH race on before course materials and time. If you the racer want to continue to have these types of events available, you've got to support them. This week will be the chance to show "better" support, or this series will disappear. It's just not feasible to spend $200-$300 out of my pocket to watch you race at each race. We'll see you this Friday, and hopefully the Friday after that.***

IT'S THROW DOWN TIME IN EAGLE

The course is set and may see a small tweek tomorrow to add some love. We are locked and loaded racers, and ready to roll! The course is a screamer and "relatively" flat for race #1, but deceivingly tough. You'll know you've been racing for 20 minutes when it's over. See you out there tomorrow eve!

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS....

Here's the deal.....
We are just a week out from race #1. All racers will be required to sign a waiver, as well as parents signing for minors. You will not be able to race unless you sign a waiver as this is required by our insurance carrier. No numbers will be issued. Entry fees are $10/adults and $5/kids under 13. I recommend that juniors 14 and older race the men's "C" class which will be a 20 minute race. Kids under 13 will race for 10 minutes at 5:30pm. Registration deadline is 10 minutes prior to the start of your race and I will roll call the start list to make sure everyone is registered.

I expect the registration process to be busy and a bit chaotic at the first race so please bare with me. I'll need some help to get all racers registered as well as run the races. Any help will be much appreciated and I'll pay registration help what I can for the two hours of work. There is a release form on the Dusty Boot Short Track series Facebook page, if you can print it out and sign it legibly before arriving that would be a HUGE help.

The courses will be different for all 6 races. The first race will be relatively flat and expect some very cool course to follow as the Eagle County Fairgrounds has some great features to work with for course design.

Top three places in each race will be "recognized". The rest is up to you to keep track of. Enjoy the race with-in the race every week and screem at your friends while they race, most of the courses will be close to 100% visible to watch the action.

I must pay for use of the facility AND the bathrooms, please be aware of this and try to keep in mind that keeping the bathrooms relatively clean will be a big help, to everyone involved. These races are pretty costly to put on and to keep them rolling I must try to keep the expense down.

Men and women will race together in their respective "waves". What this means is that all Men C and Women C level racers will be on course at the same time, however, women will start 30 seconds behind the men's field. All kids racers will start together at 5:30.

Please be mindful of trash while at the Fairgrounds and if everyone can pick up one piece of trash during the evening that will ensure that we leave the venue cleaner than when we arrived.

I am purchasing a keg of beer after each race at the Dusty Boot in Eagle, the keg should be tapped just after 8pm each race night, have at it.

Should we encounter foul weather, race conditions will be evaluated by myself and a decision will be made to go forward or not. If we encounter lightning during ANY time close to or during a race, we will not race until the danger has passed.

If there are any medical situations please find me ASAP and we will have medical staff called and to the venue shortly. The Eagle EMS staff is aware of all of these races and is located very close to the venue should we need assistance.

If you have any other questions please post them in the comment section below and I will do my best to answer them....you may also call me at 970-376-1244 or e-mail me at elgeea2b@gmail.com
Regards, and see you May 14th for the FIRST EVER short track racing in Eagle County!
